The Freedom Front has claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on the Taliban’s intelligence office in Takhar province on Sunday evening, September 14.
In a statement, the group said the attack took place in Khwaja Bahauddin district and left two Taliban members injured.
The Freedom Front described the intelligence office as “a long-time site of torture, arbitrary detentions, and brutal pressure against the people of this district.”
Statements released by the group indicate that its primary operations are concentrated in Kabul, Kunduz, and Takhar.
On August 14, marking the fourth anniversary of the fall of the republic, the Freedom Front claimed that over the past year it carried out 88 attacks, killing 225 Taliban fighters and injuring another 174.
According to the group, its fighters have targeted Taliban bases, checkpoints, and gathering sites in Kabul, Kunduz, Takhar, Baghlan, Balkh, Kapisa, Herat, Faryab, Parwan, Panjshir, Sar-e Pul, Laghman, and Badghis.
The Taliban, however, continues to deny the presence and operations of any armed opposition groups inside Afghanistan.
