Local sources in Badakhshan told Deeyar TV that armed assailants attacked a money exchanger in Fayzabad on Wednesday evening, injuring him and seizing his valuables.

The victim, identified as Mohammad Yasin Javid, was assaulted at 5:20 p.m. in the city’s seventh district. According to sources, the attackers made off with around $36,000 in cash and gold.

Javid, who sustained a leg injury in the attack, is reported to be the owner of Tohidian Exchange and Financial Services.

Despite Taliban claims of ensuring “nationwide security,” incidents of theft, murder, and other violent crimes continue to occur across Afghanistan on a near-daily basis.

Witnesses say Taliban authorities have so far taken no meaningful action regarding this case.
