Israeli forces on Sunday, July 23, shot and killed four Palestinians who were trying to access food supplies in southern Gaza City, according to local reports.
The al-Awda Hospital confirmed that the victims were struck when Israeli troops opened fire on a crowd moving toward the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s aid distribution center. Eyewitnesses stated the shooting occurred just a few hundred meters from the center.
In response, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation claimed the incident did not take place near its facility and denied the specific account of the shooting.
On the same day, the Gaza Health Ministry reported that eight more individuals, including a child, died due to food shortages. This brings the total number of such famine-related deaths since the war began to 289, including 115 children.
Since the war between Israel and Hamas erupted on October 7, 2023, an estimated 62,686 Palestinians have been killed. More than 2,000 of these deaths occurred during attempts to reach food aid at distribution points or humanitarian convoys. An additional 13,500 individuals have been injured during these efforts.
