Iranian state media have confirmed that five members of the country’s security forces were killed in an armed attack targeting two patrol units in Sistan and Baluchestan province. The incident occurred earlier today near the “Damen” outpost in Iranshahr district. The assailants reportedly fled the scene after the assault.
Authorities in Iran have launched an operation to identify and pursue those responsible, with further details expected to follow.
The militant group Jaish al-Adl has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it destroyed one of the patrol units and seized all of its weapons.
In a statement, the group claimed: “All occupants of two vehicles—a Hilux and a Samand—were neutralized, and their weapons were captured by the mujahideen defenders of our oppressed land.”
The statement also described Iran’s military and security personnel as “legitimate military targets,” urging all individuals serving in these institutions to resign. The group asserted that the Iranian regime lacks public legitimacy and that its oppression directly depends on these security forces.
Iranshahr is located 337 kilometers from Zahedan, where an earlier attack by Jaish al-Adl earlier this month left six dead and 22 wounded.
