Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister, told General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, that Beijing has consistently placed Islamabad at the forefront of its neighbourhood diplomacy.
He stated that strengthening bilateral ties is especially vital at a time of growing instability and uncertainty in the region, adding that robust China–Pakistan relations contribute to regional peace and stability.
According to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency, Wang met with General Munir in Islamabad on Thursday. During the meeting, Wang said that relations between the two countries have grown stronger over time. He noted that both nations deeply value their friendship, which he described as unbreakable.
Wang added that China welcomes Pakistan playing a more prominent role in international affairs.
General Munir, for his part, referred to China as Pakistan’s “iron brother” and said the two nations have stood together through both joy and hardship.
He affirmed the Pakistani military’s readiness to actively advance bilateral cooperation on counterterrorism and security.
