The Resistance Front announced that its forces launched an attack on a Taliban checkpoint in Kunduz on the night of Friday, August 16. According to the group’s statement, the assault occurred around 8:00 PM in the fourth security district of the city, resulting in the deaths of two Taliban fighters and injuries to two others.
The statement adds that no members of the Resistance Front or civilians were harmed during the operation.
This attack coincided with the Taliban’s nationwide celebrations of the fourth anniversary of what they call their “victory.”
The Resistance Front claims that the Taliban fighters stationed at the targeted checkpoint had been harassing local residents and pedestrians.
In its statement, the group emphasized: “The National Resistance Front continues to carry out counterterrorism operations aimed at liberating the people and the country from the grip of the Taliban terror group.”
The Front’s last reported attack occurred on May 28, targeting a vehicle carrying the deputy head of the Taliban’s eighth security district in Kunduz. The group claimed that the target and one of his bodyguards were killed.
Statements from both the Resistance Front and the Freedom Front indicate that Kunduz remains a focal point of their operations.
