Jet Center, a contractor for the UK Ministry of Defence, has revealed that thousands of Afghan citizens resettled in the United Kingdom may have been affected by a new data breach.
The company, which provides ground support services for military and official flights, reported that unauthorized individuals accessed a limited number of its internal emails. Preliminary estimates suggest that the data of around 3,700 people may have been compromised.
Those impacted reportedly include former Afghan allies who were evacuated to the UK for their cooperation with British forces, as well as military personnel on routine deployments and journalists accompanying ministers on official trips.
While there is currently no evidence that the compromised data has been made public, the breach raises renewed concerns for the safety of former Afghan partners still under threat.
This incident follows a major leak in February 2022, when a Ministry of Defence staffer inadvertently exposed personal information of 18,714 former local partners. According to the Daily Mail, the Taliban have since used that data to kill approximately 200 former security personnel.
