A senior delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Seyed Mohammad Atabak, the country’s Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade, has arrived in Afghanistan.
According to the Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the visit aims to “identify challenges and obstacles in order to expand bilateral trade and facilitate cooperation in transit and joint investments.”
The delegation is scheduled to meet with Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s deputy prime minister for economic affairs, as well as officials from the ministries of industry and commerce, mines and petroleum, and public works.
The Iranian delegation will also travel to Herat to inspect the railway, mines, and the Islam Qala border crossing.
Taliban officials said the delegation includes members of Iran’s parliament, representatives from the private sector, and senior officials from relevant government agencies.
