On the occasion of Martyrs’ Week, the Ata Mohammad Noor-led faction of Jamiat-e Islami announced renewed internal unity, bringing together several prominent political and resistance figures under a single umbrella.
In an official statement, the party confirmed that from now on, Ahmad Massoud, Ata Mohammad Noor, Mohammad Ismail Khan, and Mohammad Younus Qanooni will pursue all their military, political, and civil efforts in full coordination under the leadership of a newly established High Decision-Making Council within this faction of Jamiat.
According to the statement, these figures will act in alignment with a newly defined strategic roadmap, aimed at unifying opposition efforts against the Taliban regime.
Jamiat-e Islami called on all political parties, movements, and national figures “concerned for the salvation of the country” to come together and “unite for transforming the current bleak situation into a promising future.”
The party emphasized that Afghanistan’s “victory and liberation” can only be achieved through national solidarity and by forging a single, inclusive political front of all anti-Taliban political and civil forces.
Notably, the statement made no mention of Salahuddin Rabbani, another key leader of Jamiat-e Islami, suggesting that despite this show of solidarity among some influential figures, internal divisions within the party remain unresolved.
The statement also asserted that “from the very first days of the conspiracy to hand over power to the Taliban,” the party has continued its resistance efforts through military, political, and civil protests, both inside and outside the country. Going forward, it declared, Jamiat-e Islami intends to unify and synchronize its actions across all fronts.
