The Freedom Front has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Taliban checkpoint in Takhar province, stating that its forces carried out the operation around 9 p.m. last night.
According to the group’s statement, the assault occurred in the First Security District of Taloqan city, resulting in the deaths of two Taliban members.
The statement accused Taliban patrol units of routinely harassing residents in Taloqan, describing the group as an “occupying force.”
While the Freedom Front is primarily active in Kunduz and Kabul, it has also occasionally claimed attacks in other provinces, including Takhar.
In a report marking the fourth anniversary of the fall of the republic on August 14, the group stated that it had conducted 88 operations over the past year, claiming to have killed 225 Taliban fighters and wounded another 174.
The report listed attacks across several provinces, including Kabul, Kunduz, Takhar, Baghlan, Balkh, Kapisa, Herat, Faryab, Parwan, Panjshir, Sar-e Pol, Laghman, and Badghis.
