A week after the devastating earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, the first shipment of emergency humanitarian aid from China arrived in Kabul early Sunday morning.
According to Chinese state media, the shipment is part of a larger relief package worth 50 million yuan (approximately 7 million USD), allocated by the Chinese government to support Afghanistan.
Preparations for the aid delivery began on Saturday morning at Zhengzhou International Airport in China. Two flights carrying the supplies landed in Kabul at 9:00 a.m. local time.
The earthquake has so far claimed at least 2,205 lives and injured more than 3,000 people across several eastern provinces. Rescue efforts continue amid ongoing humanitarian challenges.
