The Freedom Front announced on Sunday, August 24, that it carried out an attack on a Taliban outpost in Takhar province.
According to the group, the assault took place around 7 p.m. Saturday evening on a Taliban compound in Police District 1 of Taloqan city, the provincial capital. The statement claimed that two Taliban fighters were killed and two others wounded.
A short video clip released by the Freedom Front shows nighttime footage with the sound of what appears to be an explosion. The Taliban has not yet commented on the incident.
The Freedom Front is among the armed resistance groups operating against the Taliban, occasionally launching attacks in various provinces. The group claims that over the past year, it has carried out 88 operations, killing 225 Taliban members and wounding 174 others.
Independent verification of these figures has not been possible, and the Taliban regularly downplays or denies such reports.
