The Federal Bureau of Investigation raided the home of John Bolton, the former U.S. National Security Advisor, early this morning (local time), as confirmed by U.S. authorities. Bolton was not arrested during the operation.
The search followed an order issued by FBI Director Kash Patel to launch an investigation into Bolton. Shortly after the raid, Patel posted on X: “No one is above the law.”
Pam Bondi, the U.S. Attorney General, reshared the post, adding: “America’s security is non-negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always.”
Bolton, 76, who was once a key figure in Donald Trump’s inner circle, has since become one of his harshest critics. Roughly half an hour after the FBI raid, Bolton wrote on his X account: “Trump’s efforts to end the war in Ukraine are futile.”
He had previously been accused of including classified information in his memoir—a book Trump attempted to block from publication.
John Bolton resigned from his position in November 2019 during Trump’s first presidential term.
