Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Thursday, August 21, to participate in the sixth round of the China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the visit is part of ongoing high-level engagement between the two countries aimed at deepening their “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.”
Key objectives of the visit include reaffirming mutual commitments to regional peace, development, and stability, as well as enhancing economic and trade cooperation.
The visit comes at the invitation of Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
Earlier, Geo News reported that both foreign ministers are expected to visit Kabul on August 19 for a trilateral meeting involving Taliban representatives. In their previous summit in Beijing, the three sides emphasized joint counterterrorism efforts—a concern that remains central for Pakistan.
China has also played a key diplomatic role in advancing the status of Taliban and Pakistani diplomatic representation.
So far, no official statements have confirmed the Kabul meeting from any of the parties involved.
