The Taliban have spotlighted a 9-year-old boy whom they describe as an “extraordinarily gifted” child, claiming he learns a new language every two months.

According to the Taliban’s provincial media office in Herat, Governor Noor Ahmad Islamjar recently met with the child, named Mohammad Amiri, who is reportedly fluent in Persian/Dari, Pashto, English, Arabic, French, German, Turkish, and Urdu.

Taliban officials assert that Amiri has taught himself all these languages and continues to acquire new ones bi-monthly.

Governor Islamjar called the boy a “valuable asset for the future of Afghanistan” and pledged full support for his continued “scientific path.”

The Taliban office further claimed that Amiri also excels in mathematics, demonstrating “exceptional abilities in multiplication, addition, and subtraction.”

This is not the first time the Taliban have drawn attention to young children. A seven-year-old boy from Afghanistan living in Pakistan was previously praised by Taliban figures for his rapid arithmetic skills.
