On the fourth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power, members of the Afghanistan Women’s Political Participation Network staged a symbolic protest, calling for international support to help Afghan women reclaim their rightful place in society. The protesters stressed that reopening schools for girls is a fundamental right.

In their statement, the group declared: “Afghan women are not silent—they are victims of the world’s silence.”

They emphasized that such days are not just “dates on paper calendars” but pivotal moments when “oppressors intensify their tyranny.”

The demonstrators reiterated that the resistance of Afghan women endures, even as many remain silent—whether by choice or due to lack of courage.

Across multiple countries, diaspora communities from Afghanistan held protest gatherings to mark the anniversary of the republic’s collapse. These protests primarily focused on the Taliban’s ongoing violations of women’s rights over the past four years.

Meanwhile, the Taliban officially commemorated August 15 as a “Day of Victory” in Afghanistan.
